Grey and White Tall Boy

This is Michelle's beautiful upcycle on a set of Pine drawers.

See chose to paint the frame grey, then compliment with white drawers.

  First a coat of primer.

Nice grey drawers handles to finish it off.

Beautiful re-vamp Michelle!

Bookcase makeover

This bookcase was a great project!  We bought it second hand and thought it would look fantastic white.

Here is how it originally looked. Great condition and very sturdy and strong. I loved the curvature on the top of the bookcase and painting it white would only just high light its features.

First came the primer.  It was not as easy as I thought to get inside the shelves to paint. I ended up with heaps of paint in my hair.

It took 2 coats of primer. It was very thirsty!!

So after a few coats of white paint.  this is the result....

Love the transformation.  Bookcases are my new thing to re-purpose. Bookcases are not just for books. Its a great way to reflect your personality and tastes and display a little piece of your heart.

Tall Boy refurbish

We had been given these drawers and thought we might go with the latest grey and white colours that are so chic right now.

Under coat with Primer....

Slight sand of all my big drips...

I only did one coat of primer, then I painted it in a tinted gloss paint.  Grey tint was called ' knowledge'.  Which is an understatement for the learning curve I am on with my restoring furniture journey!

The colour looks great in contrast with the wood.

My drawers had heaps of drips on it! Not good!!

Ready to put the drawers in and paint the knobs.

I was going to be all adventurous with the white and grey, but just ended up making the door handles white.  Next time I will be more exciting and paint around the drawers white I think...

Happy with the refurbish but.
Have a great week :)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

When I saw her I saw what she could be...

So we found this beautiful piece abandoned and looking for someone to just love on her and breathe fresh life into her.

There were two handles originally on each drawer, but some were broken.
So we patched up the holes with some filler, and sanded them back. Then we used the original handles that were still good and placed them in the middle.

We used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (Provence) on the drawers.  Came up Beautiful! In keeping with the original handles and original lining, we stayed with the mint green and white colours.

And here she is in all her beauty.  I love that we saw not how she was but who she could become.

Making all things new

My favourite do-over yet!

This table has been with us since we were married 14 years ago!  It was given to us (or rather I snaggled it) from My hubby's mum's house. It had been sitting underneath her house doing nothing. ( Along with a beautiful old wardrobe, which I also snaggled, more about her in another post!) Well, since we have had the privilege of having this table in our possession, it has been a computer table and an art and craft table and I'm sure before we had it was probably someone's breakfast table.
This table has lived many lives.  Put up with a lot of mess and damage from us and not really had a place of honour in our house.
So I thought it was about time to restore her to her former glory.

So I had some handsome guys help me sand it back.

Every mark tells a story, every scar is a record of what she's been through. But we are about to restore her and allow her to be given back her dignity.
That's what I love so much about restoring furniture. We strip back to the barest parts, we see it naked, we see every mark, every scratch, every gouge and we lovingly, gently start to heal those wounds.

After sanding, a primer is added on top.

I chose to paint the legs white and the top is an earl grey (would you believe), I think it does look like the colour of earl grey tea though :)

And here she is... She has been given the place of honour right in the lounge room. She has pride of place and is the stand-out piece in the whole room.

 Love it!!

(Picture of me and my darling in the background)
Oh! And I got the LOVE sign for mother's day and I LOVE IT!!

I think furniture just becomes so much a part of your life that it is like a family member! I am so happy to see this table restored and beautiful and ready for new adventures!
